Work Permits In Phuket

WORK PERMIT GUIDELINES FOR THAILAND
According to Thai employment law, the explanation of work is "to make use of effort and knowledge". It may or may not be for wages or other benefits, and is based on the individual. Any foreign person who wants to work in Thailand in any faculty, whether in rewarded or unpaid job must have a work permit from the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor. The only exemption to this is for diplomats or outsiders who work for the United Nations or some other special groups.
If a company in Thailand employs a person in Thailand without a work permit, then the rule is enforced. It is sometimes also enforced not in favor of single persons who contend with Thais such as travel and import-export agents who are without proper registration.

Anyone doing work like stock trading of UK companies sitting in the Thailand or web design for a UK company is not usually harassed, unless the officials have grounds to consider these are wraps for actual work in Thailand, or have any signs that any entity involved has anything important to do with Thailand. Officially, charity work necessitates a work permit, but it is very rare that this is compulsory.
There are a few exceptions, such as jobs for up to 15 days on any kind of visa. It includes meetings, study, and some other things, which can be extended another 15 days if one goes out and re-enter Thailand within that period. It needs his/her foreign employer to fill out a form which is rapidly approved (or discarded), even if it is for a local branch office in Thailand.

If anybody is visiting Thailand for the purpose of any job, then his company should apply for a work permit and the individual should come on a nonimmigrant visa. The company would send a letter for him to give to the Thai embassy or consulate in his own country when he applies for his visa. His / her company should take care of almost all procedures and advise him accordingly.
If an individual intends to get a work permit it is desirable to ask the employer to submit an application or to contact an expert who has applicable knowledge, as the application form is in Thai and the course of action is reasonably complex and requires gathering of a large amount of documentation.
The candidate must be the owner of a Non-Immigrant Visa. This can usually be granted by Thai Embassies or Consulates outside of Thailand. It is generally very easy to get this entry permit from the embassy or consulate in the domicile country.
It is allowed for a company to submit an application in advance of the employee's entrance, but the Work Permit can only be allowed to the applicant in person after entrance in Thailand.
