Thalang National Museum


Phuket has a colorful culture and traditions which was a product of its interesting history. And because they value their culture so much, you can see their well-preserved artifacts stored in Thalang National Museum located in Pa Khlok Road.

From the ancient artifacts that are displayed in Thalang National Museum, you will know the story of the Battle of Thalang. During the 18th century, there were two heroines who defended the island of Phuket against the Burmese. These two heroines now have statues of their own that can also be seen here in Thalang National Museum.

Aside from the details of the Battle of Thalang and the two heroines, you can also look at the exhibits that reflect how the locals of Phuket live their lives then and now. Moreover, there are also information regarding the tin mining industry of Phuket and its history. You will also know how the Chinese heritage started in the island of Phuket.

During the early years of 1900’s, a sacred statue was discovered in a forest located in Phang Nga. This Hindu god Vishnu is now displayed in Thalang National Museum’s main hall.

The Thalang National Museum also shows how the people from India influenced their behavior and culture. But the displays here in this Museum are not just about the island of Phuket. You will also get the chance to view the architecture, art, as well as history of other areas in Thailand such as the old kingdom called Sukothai.
