Su Net Guesthouse

The Nanai Road area of Patong beach is just a treasure cove when it comes to guesthouses. Each time I drive on my Honda Click down Nanai Road it seems that I discover yet another Patong guesthouse and the latest guesthouse which I discovered is the Su Net Guesthouse. This Patong guesthouse markets itself as being a luxury guesthouse so I was rather intrigued to find out what exactly they meant when the owner of the Su Net Guesthouse in Patong described his Patong guesthouse as being a luxury guesthouse.

My first impression when looking at the Su Net Guesthouse from the outside was that this guesthouse looked like one of dozens of Patong guesthouses which line Nanai road. As with most of the guesthouses in Patong beach and elsewhere on Phuket Island, the Su Net Guesthouse is located in a converted Thai style guesthouse. Thai real estate developers have built a very large number of these type of Thai style shop houses throughout the island of Phuket over the last decade or so as these type of buildings are not only very useful for housing a guesthouse but local businessmen also use them for massage parlors, internet shops and office space for example.

So my first impression of the Su Net Guesthouse in Patong beach was that it wasn’t very special and similar to many of the other guesthouses which I have visited over the years in Patong. However you should never judge a book by its cover so I went inside for further inspection. Upon entering the Su Net Guesthouse in Patong beach I had the opportunity to meet the English owner and some of his staff. The owner was pleasant enough and seemed very eager for new customers. He was very friendly and polite and the same applies to his Thai staff. If you were to stay at the Phuket Su Net Guesthouse in Patong beach then I am certain that you won’t have any complaints about the management or staff of this Patong beach guesthouse. It is worth mentioning that the Thai staff of the Su Net Guesthouse all did seem to have a reasonable level in English so you should not have any language issues with the staff.

The lobby area of the Su Net Guesthouse in Patong beach was a bit bare and could use some decorating so I was not overly impressed with the way it looked. The atmosphere present at this Patong beach guesthouse was a bit strange perhaps due to the way the place looked like. Considering the fact that the Patong Su Net Guesthouse is marketing it as being a luxury guesthouse I was indeed wondering what was luxurious about this Patong guesthouse as it hardly looked as nice as some of the other guesthouses in Patong beach which I have recently reviewed in this handy online Phuket travel guide.

I therefore assumed that perhaps the guest rooms of the Su Net Guesthouse were very nice and that this was the reason why the owner called his property a luxurious guesthouse. I looked forward to visiting some of the guestrooms and shortly afterwards the staff showed me two different rooms. As the Su Net Guesthouse offers 2 different types of guest rooms, standard rooms and deluxe rooms, I went to see one of each. After having seen the guest rooms I must admit that I was once again disappointed. Although the rooms were spacious and include modern facilities and amenities, the rooms are not comparative to rooms which I have inspected at some of the new boutique style guesthouses in Patong. Perhaps Patong and I have gotten spoiled due to the large number of affordable boutique guesthouses which have opened its doors over the last few years as the Su Net Guesthouse might actually be very nice and luxurious in perhaps some of the other travel destinations in Thailand however for Patong standards it really is nothing special.

Prices are affordable at the Su Net Patong Guesthouse but once again, the prices are similar when compared to some of the hip and trendy Patong boutique guesthouses. Prices for a standard room start at around 500 Thai Baht per room per night during the Patong tourist low season and double during the high season. The price for a deluxe room at the Su Net Guesthouse in Patong beach is about 100 Thai Baht per room per night more expensive.

The Su Net Guesthouse in Patong beach is located on Nanai Road near the corner of Nanai Road and Sainamyen road. It is a busy area with loads of shops, massage parlors, beauty shops, bars and restaurants and it is easy from there to walk down Sainamyen road to Rat U Thit Road or even the beach road. However I prefer the guesthouses on Nanai road which are located closer by to the short cut road which leads to the Patong Jungceylon shopping mall as this also allows travelers and tourists to get easier down to Bangla Road which is the center of the Patong nightlife scene.
