Similian Islands

Similian or Similan Islands is just one hundred kilometers away from the northwestern area of Phuket, located in the Andaman Sea. It was only in 1982 that the Similian Islands was declared as a Marine National Park here in Phuket. Similian Islands is made up of nine islands which are abundant in trees and surrounded by fascinating rock formations. All of these little islands have stunning beaches that have powder-like sand. The Similian Islands is also considered as the haven for all divers around the world.

There are two ways to experience diving here in Similian Islands. If you want to dive with the corals and occasional boulders, you must head to the east side of the island. You may head to the west side if you want a more adventurous diving experience.

There are various places of interests here in Similian Islands including the Ko Similan and Ko Huyong. The Ko Similian is the biggest among all islands in Similian. If you were to explore the land of Ko Similian, you can find different rare species including the Mangrove Monitor Lizard and the Nicobar Pigeon. On the other hand, if you were to dive under the waters of Ko Similan, you will be astounded with all the rock formations below and coral reefs formed like a deer, a mushroom, a brain, and a leaf.

However, the Ko Huyong, on the other hand, is not for all the interested visitors. Although the Ko Huyong has a lot to offer, tourists are prohibited from entering the island because turtles lay their eggs here in Ko Huyong.
