Purple Haze Phuket

It was about time that I reviewed a Rawai bar in this handy online Phuket guide which is why I headed down to Rawai beach and visited some of the bars in Rawai beach. The Purple Haze Phuket is one of the Rawai bars which I visited and I must admit that I was surprised to find such a nice bar in Rawai beach. Normally all the great Phuket bars are located in the popular Phuket resort towns of Patong beach or Kata beach for example and there are some located in Phuket Town, the capital of Phuket. However the local residents of Rawai and the few tourists and travelers that are staying in this part of Phuket did not have very much choice when it come to a Rawai bar selection or Rawai nightlife venues. Things have apparently changed in recent times as can be seen with the opening of the Purple Haze Phuket bar in 2008. Please bear in mind that the Rawai beach area of Phuket and the neighboring villages and areas area extremely popular among Phuket expat residents due to the inexpensive housing and the peace and quiet which is something which Patong expats for example generally cannot enjoy.

One of the things which I really like about the Purple Haze Phuket is that live bands perform very often at this lovely Rawai bar. There are a number of live music venues on Phuket but most of them generally only have Thai bands or perhaps a Filipino band. What makes the Purple Haze Rawai bar different from those Phuket live music venues is that generally western bands and Phuket expat musicians perform at this excellent Rawai bar. The best night of the week to actually visit the Purple Haze Rawai bar is on Wednesday as every week on Wednesday night there is a special Jam night. I was fortunate enough to visit Rawai on a Wednesday and I must say that I had a brilliant time. If you are on vacation or possible even living on Phuket and are looking for something different then the beer bars in Patong then I would definitely recommend for you to visit the Purple Haze bar in Rawai beach one night. You will certainly have a great time and you won’t regret the drive down to Rawai beach.

If you are staying elsewhere on Phuket and would like to visit the Purple Haze Bar in Rawai beach and are planning to consume a few drinks then please take a taxi or let someone else drive. The roads are not very easy to navigate at night and can be deadly if you drink and drive.

In case you are interested about the bands that regularly perform at this Rawai bar, please note that there are three of them which perform very often at the Purple Haze Phuket bar in Rawai beach and they are the Colin Hill Band, the Little Rock Band and the Mercenary Minstrels.

I would also like to point out that there is a large dance floor in front of the podium at the Purple Haze Rawai bar for those of you that enjoy dancing to live music. The staff of this Rawai bar is extremely friendly and attentive and the drinks menu available at the Purple Haze Phuket bar is very extensive. Unfortunately there was no food available during my visit to this bar in Rawai beach however the European manager did inform me that they were planning to add food to the menu in the near future which should make this Rawai live music venue even better.
