A Visit To The Zoo in Phuket
Phuket Zoo located on the stunning tropical island of the same name just of the shore of Thailand’s Southern region. This small but pleasant zoo is located about 15 minutes from Phuket town and around 10 minutes from the very popular tourist resort of Chalong Bay, making it an easy to reach location for an excursion.
The zoo is based around a series of winding paths with overhanging trees for ample shade to keep off the fierce sun. There is the usual array of exotic Thai and non-native big animals including Tigers, elephants and camels.
There is also a good selection of over 600 varieties of beautiful birds and smaller animals such as civets (a weird kind of bear meets racoon) monkeys and many other cute child popular creatures. There is a small aquarium, but is you are interested in underwater attractions Phuket aquarium is larger and offers more variety.
There are some other attractions such as the stunning Orchid gardens, even if plants hold no interest for you the beauty of these flowers takes the breath away.
The zoo’s main attractions are three live shows which rotate several times a day so you can always get a chance to view all of the fun. Commentaries are in English and Thai. Firstly there is the Monkey show, in which the animals genuinely seem to have a good time entertaining the crowds with maths lessons, basketball games, and many more amusing pranks.
The elephant show which includes elephant soccer, the huge creatures stepping over people as the lie in a row on the ground, the finale is dancing elephants followed by an opportunity to ride elephants or feed them and having a souvenir photo taken.
The other attraction is the crocodile show, featuring mad Thai trainers wrestling with the crocs and sticking their heads inside their mouths while still wearing the never ending Thai smile.
If you are looking for a way to kill a pleasant afternoon while staying on the island the zoo offers an interesting and entertaining few hours of added fun and relaxation.
