Phuket Town
Although Phuket Town is rather popular with local residents as well as expats, unfortunately many tourists never end up visiting Phuket Town. Phuket Town Location
Phuket Town is located on the east coast of Phuket. There are various roads leading directly to Phuket town from various different locations on Phuket including Patong / Kathu, Chalong Bay and Thalang / Phuket International Airport. If you are traveling to Phuket Town from Phuket International Airport then the ride will take about 30 minutes. There are various methods of transport to Phuket Town including the Airport Express Bus Service, Taxi, Limousine, Mini Bus and regular Phuket Bus service. If you are traveling from Patong beach then the trip will take around 10 to 15 minutes. Rawai is also located about a 10 minutes drive away from Phuket Town however that road is often under construction so that drive could take longer.
Phuket Town Attractions
Phuket Town has a lot of historic building. When visiting Phuket Town you will notice plenty of buildings with Sino architecture. This is due to the large number of Chinese immigrants which moved to Phuket hundreds of years ago. These immigrants would often work in the mines. This has lead to Phuket Town having a strong Chinese influence which is also reflected in the various different Phuket Town Chinese temples and shrines. If you spend the day driving or walking around Phuket Town then you will certainly see rather interesting and impressive architecture and building.
Phuket Town Shopping
The main Phuket Town shopping area which is of interest to expats and travelers is the Phuket Town Ocean mall area. Shoppers will also find a large Robinson’s department store at this excellent Phuket Town shopping area as well as a Cinema, many small boutiques and food and beverage outlets. Some other excellent Phuket Town shopping venues include various great outdoor markets including the famous Phuket Town night market. Nearby to Phuket Town are also located such popular Phuket shopping venues such as Phuket Tesco Lotus, Makro, Super Cheap and the Big C.
