Wat Chalong – The largest and most famous Phuket temple is without a doubt Wat Chalong. This temple on Phuket is also known as Wat Chaitararam. Wat Chalong is over a hundred years old and people from all over the island and even from other provinces come down to the Chalong area to visit the Chalong temple. Wat Putta Mongkon – This Phuket temple is located right in the center of Phuket City and is very popular with local residents of the Phuket capital city. Wat Putta Mongkon is also known by locals as Wat Klang. The reason why you should visit this temple in Phuket is because it has some spectacular architecture and features.
Wat Prathong – One of the biggest Phuket temples is Wat Prathong which is located in the Thalang area of Phuket. One of the most impressive attractions of this Phuket temple is the golden Buddha which is half buried in the floor. There is also an interesting museum located at this Thalang temple which includes interesting items and collections in regards to the History of Phuket.
Wat Kajonrangsan – This is another of several interesting Phuket temples which are located in Phuket City. This temple is also known as Wat Kajon and should be visited by travelers due to the mixture of various different architectural styles which were used in the construction of this Phuket temple.
Wat Suwan Khiri Khet – If you are staying in the Kata or Karon area of Phuket during your vacation then you simply must plan a visit to this Phuket temple which is nearly 115 years old. Although this Kata temple is not very large, it is the only Buddhist temple in this Phuket resort area. Some interesting aspects of this Phuket temple include the magnificent Ramayana images and the two impressive serpents which guard the entrance to this wonderful Phuket temple.
Wat Srisoonthorn – This is one of the oldest Phuket temples and was founded over two hundred years ago. This Buddhist temple is also known as Wat Lipon. One of the main highlights of a visit to this temple in Thalang is the very impressive twenty nine meter high statue of a Buddha who is sleeping. If you enjoy looking at a variety of old Buddha images then this is one of the best Phuket temples to visit during your vacation.
Wat Phranang Sang – This Phuket temple is the oldest temple on the island and it was build nearly five hundred and fifty years ago. What makes a visit to this temple in Thalang so special is that you can view some very old Buddhist statues and images. Phuket is known for its tin mining in the past and it is therefore very nice to see that many of the Buddhist statues at this Phuket temple are made out of tin. .
