Phuket Sea Shell Museum


Phuket is known for its wonderful beaches, fascinating corals, and vividly colored marine species. Because Phuket is very much inclined with its beach coasts and the treasures that can be found here, they have established the Phuket Sea Shell Museum located at Rawai Beach which is at the southern part of Chalong Bay.

The Phuket Sea Shell Museum displays not only important seashells from the island but valuable seashells coming from all parts of the world as well. However, the most sought-after seashells usually came from the island of Phuket and from other areas in Thailand.

As of the moment, the Phuket Sea Shell Museum is now a home for more than 2,000 different kinds of seashells. This includes the giant clams, seashell fossils that were believed to exist 380 million years ago, rare golden pearls, as well as Noble Volute. There is also a shell that weighs as much as 250 kilograms displayed in Phuket Sea Shell Museum.

Through the efforts of the Patamakanthin brothers, the Phuket Sea Shell Museum is now considered as one of the most valuable museums here in Phuket. They have dedicated more than forty years of work and have reached almost all countries just to look for the most beautiful and rarest seashells in the world.

You can visit the Phuket Sea Shell Museum daily from 8 in the morning until 6 in the evening. The admission fee for the adults is different from the fee required for the children. At least 200 baht must be paid by the adults while 100 baht for the younger visitors.
