Phuket By Bus

Bus services to and from Phuket and Bangkok have a wide range of options. A bus ride to Phuket from Bangkok roughly takes about 12-14 hours. You can take a bus that leaves Bangkok to the southern destinations from Thonburi Bus Terminal.

There are different types of buses to choose from. There are open-air bright blue Song Taews (local buses) in cheaper costs and luxury buses with higher fares. Song Taews operate regularly from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with no fixed stations en route meaning a lot of stoppages at passengers’ will. These local buses are not comfortable, hence not recommended for long travel from/to Bangkok/Phuket.
