Phuket Aquarium
The highly regarded Phuket Marine Biological Center operates the Phuket Aquarium which is also funded partly by the Royal Thai Department of Natural Recourses and the Environment. The Phuket Aquarium opened its doors in 1983 and attracts over three hundred thousand visitors a year. This makes the Phuket aquarium one of the most popular and visited attractions in Phuket. The vast majority of visitors to the Phuket Aquarium are Thai citizens and residents. The Phuket Aquarium is located in the Cape Panwa area of Phuket. The travel time from Phuket resort areas such as Patong beach is approximately one hour.
The Phuket Aquarium was build so that tourists and local residents could learn more about the sustainable management of the flora and fauna of the Andaman Sea and information in general about the Andaman Sea. Whenever any major studies are made in regards to the flora and fauna of the Andaman Sea then the results are often showcased at the Phuket aquarium.
If you are interested in visiting the Phuket Aquarium then please note that the cost of admission for foreigners is as follows: Adults: 100 Thai Baht, Children: 50 Thai Baht. If your child is less than 1.08 m in height then they are eligible for free admission. The cost of admission to the Phuket Aquarium for Thai visitors is as follows: 50 Thai Baht for Adults, 20 Thai Baht for Children.
