The Phuket guide does strongly recommend for all tourists staying on Phuket to at least spend the day on one of the Phi Phi Islands. The two Phi Phi Islands are Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don.
Phi Phi Islands Location
The Phi Phi Islands are located to the east of Phuket and can be reached by speedboat, long tail boat, ferry or even by sea plane. It will take just under one hour when you take a speed boat to the Phi Phi Islands from Phuket. The ferry to the Phi Phi Islands will take around one and a half hour. A round trip ticket for an express boat service to the Phi Phi Islands from Phuket will cost around eleven hundred Thai Baht. The cost of a round trip ticket by sea plane to and from the Phi Phi Islands will cost around eleven thousand Thai Baht. If you would like to do a day trip to the Phi Phi Islands then you can book special packages which will normally cost around three thousand Thai Baht and which will include all transfers, tours and lunch.
The Phi Phi Island resorts and hotels are open throughout the year and please bear in mind that the Phi Phi islands are a world famous diving destination.

Laem Tong Beach
One of our favorite beaches on the Phi Phi Islands is Laem Tong Beach. The only way that you can reach this spectacular Phi Phi Island beach is by boat as there are no roads that lead to Laem Tong beach. What most visitors really enjoy at this wonderful Phi Phi Island beach is the fact that you can enjoy the lovely nature in a peaceful way as there are no annoying vendors or loud jet skis. There are two great hotels located at Laem Tong Beach and which are the famous Holiday Inn Phi Phi resort and the Phi Phi Island Zeavola Resort. There are several restaurants at this beautiful Phi Phi Island beach where you can enjoy a great meal. Be sure to try out the outstanding Jasmine Barbeque restaurant which is located right next to Laem Tong beach.
Maya Bay
Maya Bay is home to the most famous Phi Phi Island beach as this is where a large part of the famous “The Beach” movie was filmed. The main Maya Bay beach is just over two hundred meters in length and visitors are simply stunned by the beauty of the surroundings and the ever so clear water of the sea. Please note that due to weather conditions, visitors can only visit Maya Bay from November until April. There are no hotels or resorts which are located directly at Maya Bay nor are there any restaurants other than a small stand which sells some food and snacks.
Loh Dalum Beach
Another very beautiful and popular Phi Phi Island beach is the outstanding Loh Dalum Beach which is located inside the Loh Dalum Bay. This Phi Phi Island beach is ideal for families with young children as the water is very shallow and children can easily walk far into the sea. If you are planning to spend some time on the Phi Phi Islands then you simply must spend some time at the amazing Loh Dalum Beach. There are a wide variety of activities which you can enjoy at this Phi Phi Island beach which include diving, snorkeling, swimming, wake boarding and sea kayaking. There are a number of excellent Phi Phi Island restaurants at Loh Dalum Beach which include the Phi Phi Princess restaurant and the Ciao Bella Italian restaurant. There are three Phi Phi Island resorts located at Loh Dalum Beach and which are: Phi Phi Casita Resort, Phi Phi Cabana Resort and Spa and the Phi Phi Island View Point Resort.
Tonsai Village
Tonsai Village is the main town of the Phi Phi Islands. Tonsai Village is really a bustling place and there are plenty of things to do for visitors and tourists who are spending some time in Tonsai Village. There are a number of Phi Phi Islands hotels located in Tonsai Village with the most popular ones being: Phi Phi Cabana Resort and the Phi Phi Island View Point Resort. The closest Phi Phi Island beach is the Loh Dalum Beach which was reviewed for you in the previous section. There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Tonsai Village. Some excellent Phi Phi Islands restaurants which you should definitely try whilst in Tonsai Village include Unni’s Restaurant and Mamma’s Restaurant. There is some enteraining nightlife in Tonsai Village as visitors can enjoy a few beers at various different pubs and beer bars and they can even enjoy a Thai Muay Thai kick boxing game. There are plenty of other activities as well at Tonsai Village which include: Wall Climbing, Shopping, Trekking and Sea Kayaking.

Phi Phi Island Diving
The Phi Phi Islands are one of the most famous diving destinations in the world. The underwater flora and fauna is just spectacular and the average visibility underwater is around 15 meters. The temperate of the water is also extremely pleasant which makes the Phi Phi Islands such as wonderful dive destination. Some of the most popular and well known dive locations around the Phi Phi Islands include the following: Hin Dot, Maya Bay, Shark Point, Koh Bida Nok and Hin Pae. There are plenty of dive shops and dive schools for travelers to choose from. Be sure to do price checks with various different ones so that you are able to get the best deal for your money.
Phi Phi Island Sea Kayaking
One of the most popular activities on the Phi Phi Islands is most definitely sea kayaking. Tourists can rent these special two seat sea kayaks at various locations on the Phi Phi islands and as the water is pretty calm, the sea kayaks are a great way to explore the surrounding areas. You should be able to rent a Phi Phi Island sea kayak for about 800 Thai Baht for the entire day.
Phi Phi Island Cliff Jumping
Although Mexico is well known for its cliff jumping, there are definitely some great cliffs which travelers can jump on the Phi Phi islands as well. The tallest cliff which you can jump is at Tonsai Bay and it is about seventeen meters in height. The Phuket Guide does recommend everyone to only go cliff jumping with a special guide as it can be dangerous when jumping from the wrong cliffs.
Phi Phi Island Boat Tours
There are also plenty of different boat tours which visitors can book while staying on the Phi Phi Islands. There are even some boat tours which will take you shark watching!
