The Famous Old Dutch Phuket is probably the most well known of the Dutch bars and pubs in Patong beach. There are plenty of Dutch tourists and travelers that visit the island of Phuket every year and there are a lot of Dutch expats living on Phuket which is why there are several great Patong Dutch bars and restaurants. Please note that the Famous Old Dutch Phuket and the other Phuket Dutch pubs are all located in Patong and none in some of the other Phuket beach areas such as Kata, Karon or Kamala beach. The Old Dutch Phuket has been established in a small road just off the Patong beach road and has been situated there over a decade. Recently however the Old Dutch in Patong changed its name to Café-Restaurant Blue Horizon and it still remains under the same ownership and still offers many Dutch specialties. However all the local Dutch expats on Phuket and frequent visitors from abroad still call this great Patong pub and restaurant by its old name.

When I first moved to Phuket, the Old Dutch Phuket was one of the first places in Patong which I visited for a drink and bite to eat as Dutch people abroad generally try to find a bar or restaurant where they can speak their own language and enjoy some Dutch food. I am very happy that I found the Old Dutch Phuket so quickly as I have had some very nice times there. The Café Restaurant Blue Horizon Phuket, also known as the famous Old Dutch Patong, is owned by an extremely nice Dutch couple. They introduced be to other Dutch expats on Phuket and gave all the type of information and tips which are very valuable to a person who just moved to Phuket. I will always be very grateful to them.

You can choose to sit either inside the establishment or you can site outside on the wonderful Old Dutch Phuket terrace. One of the great things about the Old Dutch Phuket is that this Dutch pub actually looks like a real Heineken pub from back home. The atmosphere at the Patong Café Restaurant Blue Horizon is very warm and friendly which can for the most be credited to the lovely owners. I have also noticed that the Old Dutch Phuket also attract a lot of non Dutch visitors. Although the Old Dutch Patong is one of the best places for Dutch food in Phuket, their menu also includes many great Thai specialties as well as a variety of popular international dishes. If you are planning a visit to the Phuket Old Dutch in Patong but have never tried any Dutch specialties then I suggest you should order some kroketten, frikandelen or Dutch – Indonesian style sate.

Please note that there are no Patong bar girls working at the Old Dutch Phuket so this is a great place to take your family. The small street in which this Patong Dutch pub is situated is actually home to a number of different restaurants and not any loud Patong beer bars.

There are no pool tables or pinball machines at the Old Dutch Phuket as this is the type of place where people simply sit down and chat to the other clients. If you are Dutch then it should of interest to you that you can read Dutch newspapers and magazines for free at the Old Dutch Phuket pub.
