The Niku Guesthouse is located in the Patong Paradise complex of Patong beach. There are in fact a large number of guesthouses in this part of Patong but I have only reviewed a couple of these Patong guesthouses in our online Phuket travel guide until now which is simply due to the fact that I don’t often visit the Paradise complex area of Patong beach. However it seems that there is a strong interest for the guesthouses such as the Patong Niku Guesthouse which is why I recently visited the Patong Paradise complex and checked out a view of these Patong guesthouses. There is actually a very common misunderstanding in regards to the Paradise complex in Patong as many travelers and tourists seem to be under the impression that there are only gay bars and other gay business in this part of Patong. Although the Patong Paradise complex is known to be the center of the Phuket gay scene, there are also plenty of regular bars, restaurants and guesthouses such as the Niku Guesthouse in Patong which caters mainly to budget travelers and backpackers for example. Some of the cheapest room rates for Patong guesthouses which I have come across have been at guesthouses in the Patong Paradise complex.

The Niku Guesthouse in Patong beach is owned by a Danish guy and his Thai wife. You can easily spot this cheap Patong guesthouse as the Danish flag hangs outside of the Niku Phuket Guesthouse. This guesthouse in Patong is very popular with backpackers as it is one of the only guesthouses in Patong which offers dorm and fan only accommodation although guests can also book considerable more luxurious rooms which include air-conditioning. This means that the Niku Guesthouse in Patong beach attracts a wide range of different types of budget travelers. When I visited Niku Patong I did have the opportunity to have a nice chat with the Danish owner of this cheap guesthouse in Patong beach. He has been living in Patong for a number of years and is extremely friendly and helpful. He is nearly always at the Niku Patong Guesthouse and is always available for his guests. One of the things which I noticed right away during my visit of the Niku Guesthouse in Patong beach is that there is an extremely friendly and laidback atmosphere. You generally tend to find that at accommodation establishments which have a lot of backpackers as guests. There are nice common areas at this cheap Patong guesthouse including the TV lounge area which is where many of the guests come together for a nice conversation, watching TV or playing some games together. The customers which I saw at the Niku Patong guesthouse did seem to be mostly in their twenties and came from all over the world.

I would like to recommend the Niku Guesthouse especially to backpackers and anyone who is looking for cheap accommodation which is basic yet clean and comfortable. The location of the Patong Niku Guesthouse is actually superb as the Patong Paradise complex is very centrally located. The white sandy beach of Patong is located only 5 minutes away as is the world famous Bangla Road with all its bars, pubs and club. The Patong Jungceylon shopping mall is also located within easy walking distance from the Niku Patong Guesthouse. Please also note that in the immediate vicinity of this cheap Patong guesthouse there is a rather nice night market as well as plenty of restaurants and bars. Due to the central location of the Niku Guesthouse in Patong beach guests will probably not require any form of transportation to get around.

There are actually different room categories which tourists and travelers can choose from when making a reservation at this outstanding cheap Patong guesthouse. For those travelers who only require the most basic form of accommodation then I would suggest the budget room category which offers only fan and a shared bathroom. This type of room at the Niku Guesthouse starts at 200 Thai Baht per room per night for a single room during the Phuket tourist low season which is from May until the end of October every year. The next step up would be the comfort room category which is separated by fan only rooms or air-conditioned room yet all of the rooms do have a private bathroom. The price for an air-conditioned room at the Niku Guesthouse will cost you about 600 Thai Baht per room per night during the low season.

When I visited the Niku Guesthouse in Patong recently I did also visit the restaurant of this cheap Patong guesthouse. They have a rather nice menu which consists of popular fast food items such as burgers and pizzas as well as a selection of both Thai and Danish dishes. Prices are extremely affordable and I have been told that the restaurant of the Niku Guesthouse is busy every night of the week.

The only thing which I can really complain about is the website of the Patong Niku Guesthouse. It is a real pain to navigate the website and to find the information which you need. I would suggest for the owner to pay a web design firm to make a professional website for this cheap Patong guesthouse.
