Lon Island

Aside from Chinese community, Phuket is also one of the places in Asia where Muslims migrate to work, do business and alike. The Muslim community here in Phuket can be found mainly in Lon Island. In Lon Island, they engage in various livelihood activities such as coconut planting as well as fishing. Of course, Muslims are not the only inhabitants here in Lon Island. There are also Thais, Chinese, and a few Europeans who wanted to enjoy the nice climate of the island.

Lon Island is situated at the southern part of Phuket. It is a huge and mountainous island that can be reached using a regular passenger water vehicle. If you would be coming from the Chalong Bay, you will be able to set your foot in Lon Island within 20 to 30 minutes. Many locals, and of course tourists, go here in Lon Island especially during the summer. This is because of the long stretch of stunning beaches that can be found at the island’s northeast coast.

Unfortunately, if you want to go to Lon Island, you must pack your things a day before your trip so that you can reach the pier early. From the Chalong Pier, passenger boats as well as ferry services would take you to the Lon Island. However, you only have until 9 A.M so that you can ride the ferries or the boats. There are also chartered boats which can be convenient for you. Take the boat for only 150 baht or schedule for a chartered boat for 800 baht.
