Kata Beach Location
Kata beach is located roughly half way between Patong beach and Nai Harn and Rawai beach on the western side of Phuket. The Phuket beach located closest to Kata beach is Karon beach which is located directly adjecent to the beach of Kata. Many travelers actually get confused as to where Karon beach ends and where Kata beach starts as it is not clearly indicated.
If you are traveling from Phuket Airport then you should count on a travel time of around one hour. If you would like to visit Patong beach during your stay in Kata beach Phuket then this will be about a 10 minute drive. Unfortunately there is no bus service between Kata beach and Patong beach so unless you have your own method of transportation, you will have to get a Tuk Tuk which costs a few hundred THB.
Kata Beach Activities
One of the reasons why so many families decide to stay at one of the hotels in Kata beach is because of the
wide range of activities Kata beach offers travelers. Obviously the main attraction of Kata beach Phuket is its clear white sandy beach and travelers will be able to choose from a wide range of watersport activities in Kata beach. Other popular Kata beach activities include shopping, dining and playing mini golf.
Kata Beach Hotels
Some of the nicest hotels in Phuket can be found at Kata beach. There is a wide choice of Kata beach hotels and resorts and room rates are generally considerably less expensive then those found at some of the other Phuket beaches. During low season you are best off trying to get a great deal directly with hotels in Kata beach. During the tourist high season you should book your room at one of the Phuket hotel reservation sites as they normally have better rates then what you would get from the Kata beach hotel directly.
Kata Beach Restaurants
Some of my favorite restaurants on Phuket are in fact located in the Kata beach area. Travelers can find all sorts of Kata beach restaurants and I am sure that you can find nearly any type of food in Kata beach. Some of the leading Kata beach restaurants are Buffala Steakhouse, Mom Tri's Boathouse, Joe's South, Kata Noi Seafood and the Kata beach club. .
