Karon Beach
Some beaches in Phuket can be quite crowded especially during the peak season. If you do not wish to spend your summer escapade with tons of tourists but want to have an accessible hotels and restaurants at the same time, don’t forget that another stunning beach exists in Phuket – the Karon Beach. Although the Karon Beach is rapidly improving as investors see potential in the area, the beach doesn’t seem to be crowded all the time.
At the Karon Plaza, you will see most of the establishments that would accommodate the tourists such as hotels, guesthouse, bars, and restaurants. But there are several areas in the Karon Plaza that is worth exploring. You might want to take a look at the small art community. New local Thai painters have created small art galleries in pubs and huts where they showcase their own pieces of work. And if you would walk further, you can see the Kata, Karon Beach’s own football stadium. The Kata hosts various local as well as sporting events every year.
The central area of Karon is much dominated by the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort and Spa. Most of the grounds of the area are also covered by the Thavorn Palm Beach Resort. But if you want to see more of Karon Beach’s handicraft shops, bars, cafes, and restaurants then head to the Aroona Plaza, which just opened a couple of years ago.
The nightlife in Karon Beach is not as lively as other tourist spots in Phuket. However, you can still find various bars and clubs packed in a certain area of Karon Beach. Most of the customers are friendly foreign tourists as well as expats. By midnight, these establishments no longer accept customers since they are closing their business as early as 11 in the evening.
