Ao Jon Beach
Ao Yon Beach – quiet yet beautiful
Ao Yon or Yon Bay is located south of Cape Panwa. A small rocky headland divides Ao Yon in two beaches. While one can be clearly visible from the road (small Ao Yon), the other (larger Ao Yon) remains somewhat obscured. Of the two beaches, the one that you can not see from the road should be visited since it provides you more clean areas and great views. From Ao Yon you can enjoy the great views of Chalong Bay and Lone Island. The beach provides shades from the overhanging coconut trees and good swimming spots. The beach has white and fine sand which makes it sparkle throughout the day. A small cold stream runs into the sea from the rocky headland at the western end where children enjoy playing. A waterfall also exists behind the beach area.
To get to Ao Yon Beach, take the small road at left as you start from Cape Panwa. The road is marked with the signpost that says “Tripetch Farm”. Following the road for a while you can reach the small Ao Yon as you cross over a hill. A minute’s drive further would take you to the larger Ao Yon where you can reach on foot crossing a hill.
Ao Yon is a residential beach. Not much of facilities are available around the beach area. Locals are not comfortable with businesses at the beach. You can, however, hire a long tail boat from local residents to take a look around. Phuket Yacht Club is also near this beach which is why you will see a lot of yachts on the bay.
A small food stand sells snacks at the small Ao Yon Beach. There is also a “Pizza Bar” up above the hill. For a heavier meal you have to head to the restaurants in Cape Panwa or Novotel Panwa Beach Resort.
Although remote in location, you will be happy visiting Ao Yon Beach if you love a quiet, small and beautiful beach to spend some family-time.
